To Hard Working Dads
The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior."

10 Biggest Brain Damaging Habits
1. No Breakfast: People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2. Overeating: It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking: It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption: Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution: The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation: Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping: Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects. 8. Working your brain during illness: Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts: Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain simulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

Saturday, November 8, 2008

Human Rights; Baha'i prospective
"The Bah'i teachings affirm that there is only one human family and that all people share the same universal human rights. The Baha’i commitment to human rights is based on the recognition of the fundamental dignity of the human being as a creation of God.Baha’is endeavor to contribute to a just society where human rights are valued and protected. In their own community life and in collaboration with civil society, government and international partners, they work to implement freedom of conscience, the equality of men and women, the elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth, the elimination of prejudice and other key principles of Baha’i belief."

Husband and Wife
"... In this glorious Cause the life of a married couple should resemble the life of the angels in heaven - a life full of joy and spiritual delight, a life of unity and concord, a friendship both mental and physical. The home should be orderly and well-organized. Their ideas and thoughts should be like the rays of the sun of truth and the radiance of the brilliant stars in the heavens. Even as two birds they should warble melodies upon the branches of the tree of fellowship and harmony. They should always be elated with joy and gladness and be a source of happiness to the hearts of others. They should set an example to their fellow-men, manifest a true and sincere love towards each other and educate their children in such a manner as to blazon the fame and glory of their family." VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN needs global attention
In UNITED NATIONS, 6 December 2007 (BWNS) -- Government and civil society representatives called for renewed attention to the issue of preventing violence against women in a panel discussion this week. The discussion, which was organized by the Baha'i International Community and the Christian Children's Fund in cooperation with the U.N. missions of France and the Netherlands, looked at ways that national and local communities around the world can intensify efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women.
"Despite significant progress, violence against women and girls continues to be a global problem," said Fulya Vekiloglu, director of the Baha'i International Community's Office for the Advancement of Women. "So the effort to organize this discussion is one way to help keep this on the agenda of governments and nongovernmental organizations, and especially to focus on the implementation of recent international agreements to fight and prevent violence against women.".......
Ms. Samson, first secretary of the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands to the U.N noted that the 2006 resolution places important obligations on states to "prevent, investigate, and punish" violence against women.
Mr. Wessells, senior child protection adviser of the Christian Children's Fund stressed the importance of engaging religious and community leaders in efforts to change social norms that allow violence against women and girls.
Dr. Penn, an associate professor of psychology at Franklin and Marshall College, who represented the Baha'i International Community. talked about the importance of strategies aimed at changing old patterns of thinking in men, boys, and communities.
In particular, he said, legal measures to eradicate violence against women should be accompanied by local, national, and international initiatives that cultivate and inspire the human spirit and promote a consciousness of the "dignity and nobility of all people."
He emphasized that everyone has a responsibility to fight practices and attitudes that lead to violence against women. ........

What is Freedom?
When my parents were arrested and imprisoned for 45 days, because of their religious believes, I was 10 years old at that time. Our aunt took care of my sister, brother and I during the 45 days. We had a choice at that time, either go to mosque and pray as a Muslim or stay home and pray as a Baha'i. I started praying and asking God for guidance and assistance on choosing my path of worship, either to be a Baha'i or be like the rest of the Muslim children at my school . My parents taught us that we have the freedom to investigate the truth and not to follow others blindly. At age 10, I had the freedom to choose my religion and I will never regret my choice."Freedom is an essential part of human being. It expresses itself in freedom of choice. Nobody can take freedom of choice away from a human..." Agnes Ghaznavi
Of course, freedom does not mean to do whatever we want when ever we want! Human freedom not like the freedom of animals. I remember what English people say: My freedom to swing my hands stops at my neighbour's nose.
Please educate your children on the difference between right and wrong, allow them to choose, to express opinion, to be creative and to build capacity.

Baha'i Education of Children
Among the greatest of all services that can possibly be rendered by man to Almighty God is the education and training of children.........., so that these children, fostered by grace in the way of salvation, growing like pearls of divine bounty in the shell of education, will one day bejewel the crown of abiding glory. (Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha)In the Baha'i Faith, Teaching of children is obligatory, to develop spiritual qualities, beliefs, and behaviors as an essential attributes of a spiritual being. Baha'i children classes put emphasis on learning to think, to reflect, and apply spiritual laws to the life of the individual and society.
Our children love going to children classes. They love the prayers, the songs, the stories, the games, the coloring, and their new friends! We also enjoy being teachers and parents.
"Blessed is that teacher who shall arise to instruct the children...." Baha'u'llah
