Children and violence

From the UNICEF web site:

"Egypt has made significant progress over the past decade toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals, with substantial gains in child survival rates, school enrolment, immunization coverage and access to safe drinking water........BUT...... There is a need for additional services to protect children from violence, abuse and neglect."

We wondered why Egyptian children, or any other children in the world, are suffering from family violence? How could we, as parents and normal citizens, prevent family violence and children abuse? What causes Family violence? is it the society? the traditions? the religion? the education system? parents, especially fathers?

Do you consider the traditional family as a source of control, abuse, and violence against weaker members?

what is the price of violence for the children who lost their identity?

Is family violence a human rights issue?
