Consultation with our children

We introduced Consultation to our children at the age of 4, preschool age. We explained to them the process from getting together, asking questions, listening to every opinion with respect and love, expressing own opinion or idea frankly, voting and accepting group decision.

We used consultation for problem solving, Building character, taking responsibilities, and planing activities.

Story: We invited our children along with other children from the neighborhood one day to build a huge pyramid. We gave every child 5 papers, 8 sticks and one glue and asked every one to build a pyramid on his own. Later, we asked them to form two groups; one group using consultation as a problem solving tool, with our support and help of our children. The second group left on their own without any guidance. The group who did consult managed to built a big pyramid with less effort and no time. From that experience, the children learned the importance of consultation.

"The purpose of consultation is to show that the views of several individuals are assuredly preferable to one man..."

"Consultation giveth him (humankind) insight into things and enableth him to delve into questions which are unknown"
